TRIANGLE, (Lowveld Post) – TRIANGLE FC captain Ralph Kawondera is in the race for 2019 Premier Soccer League golden boot, with just two goals behind leading scorer Clive Augusto.
Augusto, a former Chicken Inn player, is now playing in South Africa at Maritzburg United but still sits on top of the ZPSL scoring board with 14 goals.
Kawondera scored his 12th goal following an emphatic 3-0 win over ZPC Kariba on Sunday at Gibbo stadium.
Collins Dhuwa and scintillating Gerald Bero who was undisputedly man of the match, provided the other two goals in the first half.
Kawondera who was named player of the month is upbeat he will surpass Augusto’s record.
“I was quite unlucky today as l missed a couple of chances which could have seen me scoring more than three goals.
“In football anything can happen, all l want is to continue scoring more goals despite being left with two goals to match the current record,” said Kawondera.
The Triangle hardman has tallied his record to a 16 goals in all competitions.
Triangle, fondly known as ‘Sugar Sugar’ boys seem to have regained their sweetness, having ended their dry spell characterised by a draw against Herentals and losing to minnows TelOne, Yadah and Bulawayo Chiefs.
Triangle is set to travel for their game in hand fixture against Yadah before hosting both Hwange and Dynamos at their home turf.
