MASVINGO, (Lowveld Post) – THE Tugwi-Mukosi dam is set to host the first ever Masvingo provincial fun run marathon which is aimed at boosting tourism at the site.
The event organised by Zimbabwe Youth in Tourism (ZYIT) is pencilled for 30 November at the dam site.
Event organiser Adison Bakali said the event’s thrust is to promote development and tourism as well as marketing Masvingo as a province.
“As the youths in Masvingo, we opted to organise a fun run at Tugwi Mukosi dam to promote our province in terms of development and tourism.
“Preparations of the race is at advanced stage as everything is now in place. A lot of people have already registered to participate at the event,” said Bakali.
Over 200 participants will participate in 100m and 10km races.
A number of stakeholders which include Zimparks, Nyaradzo group, ZIMRA, Environmental Management Authority (EMA), Zimbabwe National Water Authority (ZINWA) just a few to mention, have joined hands for the event to be a success.
The dam was completed in 2017 and the project is seen as a panacea to drought in the province.
